FEI is a wholly-owned subsidiary by Föreningen Företagsekonomiska Institutet - a non-profit organisation founded as early as in 1888. Membership in the society is open to all graduates from a longer course at FEI.
One of our main tasks is to "support and stimulate business research and development."
In 2008, FEI were, for the sixth time, behind the award Oskar Sillén’s Prize for best doctoral thesis on business adminsitration . The jury consisted of four professors from the Nordic countries, chaired by Flemming Poulfelt, Copenhagen Business School. This year's prize was shared between: Cecilia Enberg, Linköping University: "Knowledge Integration into Product Development” and Andreas Jansson, Växjö University: "Collective Action Among Shareholder Activists”.
The jury’s statements were as follows:
Knowledge Integration into Product Development”
“The thesis shows how knowledge emerges and how it is integrated in two development projects. The study offers penetrating analysis of the interaction for two large engineering projects. It highlights the similarities and differences between the projects. A synthesis develops around the need to act and to be able to co-operate with others in an iterative process. The presentation is vivid and exciting to read. It leads to conclusions that can provide guidance and inspiration for projects in other contexts. "
"Collective Action Among Shareholder Activists”
“The study highlights how coalitions can arise between shareholders in companies. Two ideal types develops; one offensive and one defensive. This reasoning is expanded on in three well-chosen, illustrative cases. The question of interaction between owners is important within modern business economics. The presentation is clear and consistent. The thesis’s contribution is both that it dissects how co-operation and confrontation between owners can emerge in different situations, and that it shows what impact this may have on the company and its shareholders.”
We do more than handing out prizes. We also arrange first-rate lectures, lunches, networking gatherings, etc. but also social events where we meet and have fun together. Excellent opportunities to keep in touch with FEI and old course mates.
